“Investigating the Standards: Iowa Core Mathematics and English/Language Arts is designed for K-12 teachers who wish to become knowledgeable about the structure of the standards documents. “Deeper Investigations” are sessions that engage educators in deep, on-going conversations that build collective understanding of the Iowa Core Standards. Teachers of History/Social Studies, Science, Technical Subjects, and other content areas (6-12) should attend ELA Investigations. Exploring the Iowa Core through Collaborative Learning Teams: Under Modules on http://moodle.aeapdonline.org/ one will find exploring the Iowa Core. A variety of resources are available here to support educators in learning more about Student-Centered Classrooms, Teaching for Understanding, Assessment for Learning, Rigorous and Relevant Curriculum, and Teaching for Learner Differences.

The series of modules are for use by locally-facilitated collaborative learning teams to deepen teacher understanding of the attributes of formative assessment – learning progressions, learning goals and success criteria, eliciting evidence, descriptive feedback, self and peer evaluation, and classroom climate.
